Bench is a public woodworking shop, co-working space, and artisan hub. We offer hobbyists and professional makers the community, equipment, and space they need to build great things. We provide hands-on classes on a monthly basis, and monthly memberships that allow you to access to our shared workshop, "the Factory Floor" and co-working space, "the Studio Commons" !
Around here, you'll see people working in disciplines such as Woodworking, Screen Printing, Metal Smithing, Ceramics, Photography, Coffee Roasting, and more.
Ben founded his furniture company, TimberSmith Goods, in 2009. He learned first hand how hard it can be to flourish with inadequate shop resources, lack of exposure to the local market, and a lack of mentorship. After growing frustrated with working alone in his home garage, Ben founded Bench in 2012 to fill an obvious need he saw in the Omaha community. Several locations and hundreds of long days later, he has created the ideal space for professional artisans and local hobbyists to work, learn, and create.
At any given time, you can find him around the shop working on a commissioned piece, chatting with one of our members, building out a private studio, or sketching new furniture designs up in our co-working space.
